Les Coteaux, Côtes du Rhône Villages

Classic Côtes du Rhône Villages, enriched with specially-selected parcels from the vineyards of Séguret, Sablet and the cru of Cairanne.

Wine Story

Our winemaking philosophy is to make the very best Côtes du Rhône Villages we can. We source principally Grenache Noir and Syrah grapes from vineyards encompassed within the named villages of the southern Rhône valley specifically to make 'Les Coteaux'. We then mature and enrich the final assemblage with wines from the upper tier of barrels from the classified villages of Sablet, Séguret and Cairanne so that the wine is part oak-aged.

Boutinot Rhône Fide et Arte 'Les Coteaux' is therefore carefully selected from the best named Côtes du Rhône Villages each vintage, rather than the wine ‘left over’ after making named Villages.

The heart of the wine is lusciously fruity and unoaked with a touch of complexity interwoven from 20% matured for a minimum of 22 months in a combination of new and old French oak barrels.

Fiche Technique

A serious, restrained and complex example of cru Cairanne. This is rich, intense and drenched in dark red fruits. With morello cherry and a touch of cinnamon spice on the nose, soft dark plummy fruit, liquorice, chocolate, a hint of black tea on the palate, this wine is full flavoured and smooth with supple tannins. A rich, savoury satisfying mouthful!

Vineyard

We source from a number of growers with exceptional terroir allowing us the flexibility to select only the very best fruit each vintage and reject parcels which do not meet our high standards.

Winemaking

Côtes du Rhône Villages enriched with barrels of ‘classified’ named Village wine from Sablet, Séguret and Cairanne.

Maturation

Mostly unoaked, a small proportion (20%) is part aged for 22 months in old French oak barrels and a quarter in new oak to bring depth and subtle notes of complexity.
